Due to the limitations on social gathering triggered by the COVID-19 virus, this class is canceled. 

The mountain dulcimer is the state instrument of Kentucky. Join Jim Tackett for a presentation that explains the history, sound, and construction of this beautiful instrument. During his presentation, Jim will share his background in playing and building dulcimers and will introduce audience members to its history and unique musical qualities. 

Jim's career spanned three professions - Medical Technology, Architectural Photography, and Insurance. He is mostly retired from the insurance world, but is still very active in buliding mountain dulcimers, as well as playing and arranging music for the Blue Grass Dulcimer Club in Lexington. 

 

He earned a B. S. Degree in Medical Technology at Pikeville College/University and studied pre-
architecture classes at BCTC in Lexington. He has done extensive independent study in the field
of photography and wood working/lutherie.
